Today i went by the Goodwill like always...and i picked up a used copy of JM2:CE (because i only owned the black label JM2) for a whopping $3. I get home to try it out, fire it up...and this is what i get...
It works 100% fine, not a single loading/running problem....but if anyone can explain what's happening in this video...I made it pretty clear i wasn't sure WTF WAS GOING ON!
Watch this...it explains it all. Really, you gotta see this to believe it. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Ok, there were an issue between the CE/Greatest Hits edition and the the original black label. Under the short amount of time, this was the best I could come up with as my original links don't work anymore. Bah. This was pulled from the wikipedia section.(not my first option, but again..didn't have a whole lot of time!):
"Jet Moto 2's original cut from 20 competitors to 10 was to "to open the game up to a broader market, one that wasn’t driven by hardcore." Chef Boyardee was one of the new sponsors in the game, however the game's producer, Brian Wiklem fought to ensure the sponsor would not be a rider's sponsor. As a result, Chef Boyardee's logo was added to track advertisements throughout the tracks. Of the ten new tracks created for the Jet Moto 2, five concepts were designed by SingleTrac, and five by Wiklem and his assistant. Dual Analog Controllers and the accompanying vibration functions were supported for the first time, but DualShock Controllers were not. As with the first Jet Moto, Axiom Design created the user interface shell for the game. Pinnacle Music Group composed the music for the game. Jet Moto 2 would receive localized renames in Europe and Japan. Its European title is Jet Rider 2, and its Japanese title is Jet Moto '98
The Greatest Hits version of the game was never meant to be released in its current form. As the game's production cycle was ending, Wiklem asked SingleTrac to modify the game for him a modified version of Jet Moto 2. This version increased the framerate to 30 frames per second by removing six competitors from races, thus putting less strain on the PlayStation hardware. Additionally, Wiklem requested that all of the original Jet Moto tracks be unlocked at the start of the game. It was branded in-game asJet Moto 2: Championship Edition:
Due to their master disc being destroyed, Sony contacted Wiklem for a copy to use as a master disc for burning. Wiklem sent the altered disc SingleTrac had made for him, notifying Sony of the change and petitioning it be used as the Greatest Hits version. Sony replied that Greatest Hits titles must be the same as the original release version. Dismayed, Wiklem burned a copy of the original version and sent it to Sony for duplication. Due to a mixup in the duplication process, the modified version of the game, was duplicated and not the original version. Sony Digital Audio Disc Corporation phone Sony Computer Entertainment, and eventually the phone calls trickled down to Wiklem himself. He told vice president of marketing Jeff Fox that he "did send the right disc, it was properly labeled, and it’s not my fault that DADC couldn’t read." The situation was put to rest shortly thereafter, with the decision being made not to make any further changes to the Greatest Hits disc."
I'm thinking a sizable number of people got a hold of this version.

In layman's terms, all the tracks are already unlocked in the Championship Edition. That's one of the big differences between the original and the CE.

Am i supposed to be going turbo speed constantly? I understand the frame-rate is higher in CE, so faster speeds.....but Turbo-Speed fast ALL THE TIME!? This perplexes me..... Also....what are those 2 trophies I have unlocked automatically?

The differences that I know of between the original and the CE are:
- Faster speed (50% faster IIRC) - All track unlocked - Higher framerate (45 fps i think) - 4 racers on a track
As for the 2 trophies, I have no idea.

Yeah all that's intentional and the core reason why it's a different experience.
Also the shield with arrow trophy is the all tracks unlocked trophy. I believe the double black diamond medal goes with it too. Maybe the double black is the unlocked JM2 tracks and the shield with arrow is JM1 tracks. They just seem to have added them on the trophy case at default. However you'll note that if you go through the season mode you won't get the unlocked JM2 tracks endings but when you do master with each character you'll get the "unlocked hidden playground" ending which are the JM1 tracks. You'll get a nice crystal trophy with rider names at the diamond shaped space in the trophy case.
However I have to check my JM2:CE because I don't remember the double black diamond medal being there at startup (I have all medals except that mystery one in the 2nd top corner, so it's been awhile since I looked at a empty case lol).
Brian Wiklem's website which I have a link in another topic explains the origin of this.

Now I'm interested in seeing what Brian Wiklem had to say.

Just to clarify what the two medals are in the trophy case. The one with the arrow is the "direct play through" pin I think, meaning you've completed full season without interruption. The double black indicates that you've beaten the game on master difficulty I believe with every bike. Once you beat it on "Insane" that will change to the SingleTrac logo...I think. But anyway if you had started from scratch and earned those two medals the hard way you would have all the tracks from JM1 unlocked like you already do. I'm interested to see if you have Enigma unlocked though, if he's even in that version of the game.

I prefer CE, probably because I'm used to the speed.

Enigma is in CE since I have used him in it.
And I have found the original easier to control than the CE.

I've preferred the original version because of the challenge with 9 other racers on the higher difficulties, which now makes me think of F-Zero GX's extreme difficulties. I actually own a physical copy of CE and loved the whole high-speed action it presents. But I still find myself going back to the original, so I'll probably just use that for recording if I ever get a good recording device. Using a camera seems a bit weird, showing a fuzzy screen, poor sound quality, and blah, blah blah... *drones off about how horrible his camera and income system is*

Definitely agree with the challenge of AI on the original. But I gotta say, I don't know if it's my disc or PS, which both are extremely old, or my connection to my temporary tv, which has a fuzzy appearance to begin with, but the frame rate of my original JM2 disc seems pathetic right now!!! It might just be because I've recently been playing CE but DAMNNNN!!! I can't remember it seeming this bad! Does anyone know the actual difference in frame rate?
Anyway, 2 extremely different games. The major difference is the use of the roll buttons (L2/R2). I use them virtually every time I turn on CE. But as that tendency carries over to the original I think I can improve some PRs there. Rolling just a little does a wonder in keeping the bike grounded and maintaining speed!
