I know it's been a while since I've been here. I've been trying to get JM1 into a GDQ for a good while now to no avail. It's just not very popular and will always be seen as a lesser Wave Race. But none the less, I will continue to try, maybe with stunt mode. Watching SGDQ right now, and now I feel like on a speedrunning binge.

Yeah, nobody cares about Jet Moto and, as you said, people are convinced it's a game about jet skis and that it's a rip off of Wave Race. I don't think you'll get it on, and even then you'd probably be the only one going for the times since we're only about 2 or 3 people occasionally going for records, and those are practice mode times.

I think maybe if people streamed the game, it could potentially get more people involved. Jet Moto is actually pretty complicated for a racing game, so there's the potential especially in this day and age for a new generation to stumble upon the game and get hooked. There have been other scenes for other games that were dormant for a really long time until they weren't anymore. Maybe if we pulled a SummoningSalt and made a video on the history of Jet Moto world records, we could kickstart something special.

That would be really cool actually. I would be for it. We got all the history here on the forum.

That's why I would like to get some recordings and stream multiplayer I think people would have more interest if they see they can play with other people.

Now that I think about it, does Jet Moto have anything that could be considered an "advanced technique"? I'd almost think that it would be cool to go one track at a time, and kinda show how a run got optimized over time via the discovery/applications of new techniques. EDIT: Also, don't forget that speedrun.com has a Jet Moto section. Some people submitted runs there that we're totally unaware of.

Yeah, there are a lot of advanced techniques actually, and tracks do tend to have lots of counter intuitive strategies in them that would be very interesting to make videos about. I've been thinking of doing that, as well as streaming in the future, especially once our game is out. The only reason why I haven't done any of it is because my internet's literally incapable of streaming, even at 360p, I've tried lots of times.
I didn't know about those runs there, I'm surprised there's practice mode times on there, from what I've seen, usually speedrunning is about completing the game fast, so I'd think there'd be AI. I might keep an eye on there for times that beat ours, but I don't think that'll be happening any time soon judging by that 3:30 time on Slickrock Gorge lol

Well, usually for racing games they have time trial times. The Mario Kart time trial community is one of the oldest ones out there.

You went to the SRC page and didn't realize it was me that mods them and has most times on there? I'm disappointed in you Ermac, lol.

The reason I made the SRC pages is to, for one, get it out there for a bit more exposure, and, second, to put in full game categories as well as the time trials. I wanted to get the times on here over to the SRC pages as well, but I never got around to that and eventually forgot about it.

I'm talking about the times from the 2-3 people who also submitted times.

Welp, I just did a thing. Feel free to point out/correct any errors or missing data in here. I'll probably update this at some point with new information when I get around to it, but not now.

If someone didn't submit a time for stunt mode in JM1, should I just carry over their non-stunt mode time? I think it kinda makes sense, given that Stunt Mode is always gonna be faster anyway.

I guess, but consider, for example, my Suicide Swamp time is better than the fastest stunt mode time, it would actually be the WR for that mode. That run was so good, I couldn't beat it even in stunt mode. There's just no room to do any stunts there to make up for the time loss with the turbos.

Yeah, I've decided to keep them totally separate.
Also, I updated with a couple of times that fell through the cracks.
