Hey, what I'm about to tell you isn't a really big discovery about the game, but rather an interesting discovery of mine. I've already tried to modify JM2124's textures before, which didn't work, in fact, just saving the file from UltraIso without modifying anything breaks the game, but using the same trick I pulled on JM3's ISO to keep the music working even after texture editing, I successfully modified C4's bike texture and made a little Enigma-ish kind of edit (see below). The technique I use is pretty simple when you've got the programs necessary. You see, adding or removing a single byte in JM2124's ISO causes it to stop working (either because of an anti-piracy or a fragile coding structure) BUT MODIFYING already existing bytes doesn't (as Dr. Kirk discovered when replacing track names to load other tracks)! JM3 works this way : If bytes are added or removed, the music stops working. The program I found is called CDMage B5, it allows me to extract and replace files in the ISO without affecting the coding structure and thus, keeping the game from crashing (JM2124)/losing its music (JM3). The modding process goes like this : I find a texture containing file. To view, extract, convert and reinsert .TIM files from/to ISOs, I use TimViewer. To edit the textures without modifying their palette (preventing the textures to look corrupted or lose their transparency), I use Usenti and to reinsert the texture files into the ISOs, I use CDMage B5. Simple as that. Now, here is the screenshot of the modified bike :

I just thought about it and... I think the Tron-like rider is the Missingno of Jet Moto 2124. As it has no texture files and that the only thing that shows up are pulse lines and brake light, which are both added on the top of a texture, I think it is there only to hold unused data. Maybe it also was a test bike for the new 2124 physics like the test track.

Just a quick post to say I think I may have found a way to change the type of bike. It doesn't alter the model or textures, but the way it handles does seems to be different. The code is:
_C0 JM 2124 HEAVY TO MEDIUM BIKE _L 300C55E4 0000004D _L 300C55E5 00000045 _L 300C55E6 00000044 _L 300C55E7 00000049 _L 300C55E8 00000055 _L 300C55E9 0000004D _L 300C55EA 00000043
I used The Maxx (as he has a heavy bike) and the handling seemed alot better on the Atlantis II level when I activated the code. Plus, I don't think the medium bike is used at all, is it? Could someone test it? If it works, I'll do codes for both heavy and light bikes, with options to change to the other 3 or so types.

It seems to affect nothing... I dunno if I did something wrong or...
EDIT : Tried it out on 2 computers, it looks like it doesn't do anything, if you could post a video, maybe I could see if it works?

I'm not sure if the codes do work. I thought there was some difference when I tried the original code, but I haven't seen anything else since. Sorry, but I think this may be a deadend.

I'm not sure if the codes do work. I thought there was some difference when I tried the original code, but I haven't seen anything else since. Sorry, but I think this may be a deadend. It might. I think we could change the bikes type with an hex editor though. It might be possible, I'm not sure, but it might.

I've managed to get Smiley loaded as a playable, er, character: _C0 MAXX TO SMILEY _L 300C5588 00000053 _L 300C5589 0000004D _L 300C558A 00000049 _L 300C558B 0000004C _L 300C558C 00000045 _L 300C558D 00000059 You need to choose Maxx as your character, and you get: I thought it was just a skin, as you can see the exhaust coming out of the face, but then I hit an obstacle ... You can bounce high above the level, with little control at all. You can also get stuck if you bounce around too much in a tunnel. The face you can see is the back of the ball. The other side: As usual, have a go to see if there're any other anomalies. This was obviously a joke character, but it adds to the roster. None of the other unused characters load (Jet Moto, Captain Moto etc.), as they have no files as all. There's also a character called Synder, but there are some files missing.

Sorry, that other character's called Snyder. Oh ok. Well, we still have the two unused (or are they?) textures that could go on them. And uh... You mentioned the bonus characters (Jed Moto, Stilleto, etc.) had no files, but in that case, what were the extra values that loaded characters in the character select code?

Yeah, I was trying to get the unused characters to load and see what files were missing. Trawling through the game's archive, I realised that I couldn't find any. So the Character Select code seems to have the placeholder values for the characters, but no files to load. The regular characters and bikes seem to be used in their place in this build. Talking of builds, it seems that a later version might exist, as detailed on the website of A.J. Jaros, who says that the game was some 90% complete. It's hard to know how far the game we have is, though.
