Updated: New track: Abomination The last track in the Intermediate circuit, the course will show no mercy to riders as they traverse across glaciers, pits, and through tunnels to try and finish without slipping up. Damn, that's what I was going to call one of my tracks! Great minds think alike?

Final track added: Aerophobia
Racers will develop a fear of flying as they race across mechanical islands in the sky while avoiding falling to their demise.

This isn't really an element of gameplay, but an atmospheric element I suppose. One thing that I've always felt was lacking in the original is the feeling that you're racing in Top Jet Moto league. Aside from the adverts plastered all over everything, little else made it feel like a professional sport. I've got a few details that could be added relatively simply given the processing power of modern consoles that could make the player feel more like he's competing at the top level of the sport:
-Stands filled with cheering crowds -Player's actions on the course influence crowd's cheers (for example; lots of showy stunts will make you a crowd favorite; crashing makes them jeer; knocking other racers off their bikes causes some to cheer and some to boo) -Chase Cameras that exploit the same hover technology as the bikes -Jumbotrons displaying Chase Camera footage in real time -An announcer (players should have the option to turn this off)
The announcer and interactive crowds could make the game more fun by adding a layer of engagement, but I can also see it getting annoying, so it would be important to keep these features non-essential to gameplay and customizable. What do you guys think?

I don't see a cheering crowd being a annoyance because Jet Moto already is a noisy game. However commentary can be irritating. Just play any of the latest WWE Smackdown vs Raw games. 30 seconds into a match and you've already heard all the commentary they have to say. However it can be a fun option. But if it was up to me I'd keep all the commentary out of the race (like pre-race, post-race). Hey I think the impact of the cheering crowd can be amplified by a camera flyby, with them all cheering. Also would help is pre-race introductions like you see in MotoGP (I started watching it because of Jet Moto ). With camera shots of each rider getting ready with their stats and recent accomplishments. All I'm saying is just a hell of a lot more cinematic moments.

What do you guys think? I tend to think of the Jet Moto championship as being a bit more of an underground sport. Adding all of those "professional" features would just make it seem too mainstream.

I think of Jet Moto as a futuristic chariot race with competitors doing it only for the thrills, while the world "government" uses it to entertain the masses. Like the pod races in Star Wars. After all, you expect sane people to not complain about a racing sport where riders risk their lives on rockets racing around dangerous terrain? There got to be some kind of government influence involved.
But then again... Rule of Cool.

The Chrono Trigger remake was cancelled, and then Chrono Trigger was re-released for the DS.
Plus, they weren't creating a fan sequel, they were using existing intellectual property to create a remake.
And if you really worry about that sort of thing, just don't call it a Jet Moto game. If you build it from the ground up using all original code, characters, and art, there's nothing "they" could do.
If a fanmade JM project started up, I'd definitely do what I could to support it. (With what little programming ability I have.)

I doubt that we'd get a C&D of death for a Jet Moto remake.
Unless they were working on something...

Sony is actually very protective of their series old and new. So I wouldn't go forth making a fan game of the same name without asking permission first. Has anyone ever seen if they would release the source code for the first game on PC?
