I've been practicing as usual and right now i'm in the middle of making one heck of an album cover so maybe in a few weeks or sometime early next year it'll be done, and i just got some new inks awhile ago for the JMG comics

this is just a really quick doodle i just sketched from a judas priest compilation cover called hero, hero it's suppose to be a warrior's shield-- here's where i discovered i could use this ink like a marker because it's transparent, this technique could only be used with smooth paper though, i haven't seen anybody do it before but i'm sure it's been done-- i'm pretty good now with a pencil,q-tip, and kneaded eraser i could do really stylized realistic stuff with that alone it's just a shame that when you want to add color to something it's a big leap- yeah so this is a possible style but the thing is i haven't quite figured out how to do skin tones with this technique i'm thinking just doing the outlines of the skin a certain color, other than black, and leave the inside white- the reason is because the white is opaque and when you mix that with the browns it loses it's transparency and if i mix water with it the diluted ink doesn't agree well with smooth paper-- so my other option is to just simply use the inks like water colors on paper with a rougher surface-- black and white is so much easier haha Attachments:

The only color pencils I've ever had were shitty ones that would look like shit and not even stay on the paper. You probably tried one of those before, you know the ones that have a color intensity limit, at a point where it's still more than half transparent but even if you color it more it stays like that? Yeah, these suck, yours look freaking awesome! They even blend in together, unlike the cheap ones I tried lmao.

Thanks dude yeah this was actually made using Dr.Martin's bombay ink, like the actual liquid stuff with an ink dropper and i used a sable brush to apply it,this was just something really quick i did, the initial sketch was really sloppy too hehe-= that's why it's more intense looking than the colored pencil, the layering from light to dark is where the transparency comes into play, i think of it like a pencil when using this technique if you want something darker you go over it more and leave the lighter layers alone but it's liquid so you have to move a little faster and delicately

thank you man, yeah like i said this is dr. martins ink, i also have speedball ink too and with that one all the colors are really opaque it's actually acrylic ink, i eventually wanna get dr.martins brand of acrylic ink as well-- Yes dragon ball Z rules-- now this is done using col-erase colored pencils, as you could see i could make the image pretty neat looking and it's easier and faster to do but since i'm making fan jet moto art i at least wanna make it as best as i can and it looks best with ink, because of the color intensity Attachments:

And it'd be cool if we went with the Sapphire look for JMG's menus and as an overall theme, it'd look great!

thank you for the compliments yeah as you could see with pencil i could get really detailed i could make it look like something out of a medicine book, when i get bored of graphite i like to use a ballpoint pen to practice too but i really wanna be able to ink in color with ease and like i also said i'm in the middle of making an album cover so right now my attention is on that-- if i really wanted to i could do a traditional painting but the way i'm comfortable doing that medium is by using the cloth side of the canvas pad it's basically like linen So just imagine painting on the texture of your shirt ya know, that's the only way i really feel comfortable and it doesn't work well with a comic book style which is what we want but just maybe i'll do a few in that way--- Yeah a sapphire look would fit nicely that's why i gotta get good at inking i sort of think of Galaga when i picture JMG yeah arcade stuff is my favorite sort of gaming just pick it up and Go! like racing and fighting games- i also really want to do art like the SNK games like Metal slug, well i can it's just i gotta practice inking

I also haven't got my new computer yet, Nvidia's gonna launch a new Graphics Card series that will be many times as powerful as their latest cards in less than a year, so I'm gonna wait until then to upgrade. After that, I'm gonna try to go Video Game QA Tester, since I've found a level designer class that requires either one year of post-secondary studies or experience in the video game industry, which is what I'm aiming for. One thing is sure, being a video game tester is gonna be way better than school and I'll be able to focus more on my side projects without getting bored of my job, hopefully. Until then, you can experiment with different methods until you settle on a good one that you like and freely experiment with different techniques.

well i think i found my style, the scanner's flash takes away some of the deepness of the color but in person it really Pops, i did another small sample using richter belmont's jacket and and i asked my sister if she preferred this look over the regular comic look and she liked this one more and so do i, it looks like something out of a fashion designer's sketchbook -- and the thing is i could do this technique really fast--the jmg logo was just to test out the blue i have it's the only one i have closest to the sapphire look.-- yeah dude do what you have to do-- yeah haha life in general is mundane, art keeps it exciting Attachments:

Is being a game tester a relatively easy job to get? i just remember dave jaffe saying if ya wanna get in to the game industry, you can do it but that was back in '96 and that to prepare to be tester you pick out a game that you hate and play it for days on end

And yeah, chances are I'm gonna be playing a shitty game over and over again, but hey, I did it with JM2124 to find all the glitches I could (the only difference is that JM2124 isn't shitty) and I really like doing stuff I wouldn't normally do. Heck, in some old PS1 games I played, I started to get bored and messed around a bit, finding quite a few glitches. And to be honest, I went to school for 10 years without being paid a cent, doing the same thing for years on end, so I'm assured that being a game tester is at least less boring than that.
