If you're interested in a wipEout or F-Zero clone that actually works well, take a gander at this title. Redout is pretty much what amounts to a more modern and functioning look at F-Zero, since the environments are varying and the track bends and turns in different ways, as well as being able to glide in the air and changing the pitch of your hovercraft. If ol' Shiggy hadn't gotten hung up on the idea of proper motion controls and just stuck with the Wii Motion Plus or tried something on WiiU or Switch, I wouldn't be ranting right now. Regardless, I highly recommend this game. I pre-ordered it months ago after my first work check and heard about the features, locales and playstyle and knew this was what I was asking for. Although noticeable differences from the former racer include using powerups and having no physical combat capabilities, like spinning and sideswiping, which is a bummer, but nothing big.
I personally got it for PS4, but I might get it on Steam as well just because it was worth it after a few minutes of gameplay.

I'm not really a fan of games like wipEout or F-Zero, they're too fast while offering little to no level complexity.

Im just going to ignore that statement about wipeout being a hardcore player.
Redout looks interesting though.

I didn't play a lot of wipEout though, only like 3 levels and they were already much more complicated than F-Zero, but compared to Jet Moto it's really nothing, I imagine the levels get more and more technical as you unlock more of the game, but even then the game itself is limited to almost a 2D plane, compared to Jet Moto (3 & 4 especially) which has a lot of vertical elements to it.

Finally getting my hands on redout for 10 bucks, I have to say I enjoy it. It actually reminds me of Powerdrome on the ps2. Which is one of my favorite oddball ps2 games.

Yeah, I've tried the game, and I have to say I like it, it's pretty fun, but damn does it not compare to Jet Moto for me, I'd literally rather replay through JM2 one more time than playing Redout, but I'm weird like that, I somehow never get tired of playing Jet Moto xd

I tried the original wipeout. Back then I remember reviewers raving about the graphics.

I think that's why we are all here.
