Alright everyone, here's the place to discuss your favorite track. Not race track, but MUSIC track. What's your favorite, least favorite, and why?

The Nightmare song. So awesome. It's the lead that really made that track.

Toss up with Hammerhead and Nightmare. Hammerhead has the uncanny 7/8 similarity to "Under A Glass Moon" by Dream Theater, but Nightmare has the vibe.

Under a Glass Moon doesn't really sound like that, and I've listened to it many times.
Willpower and Nightmare are definitely my favorite songs. Cypress Run is also pretty cool.

Under a Glass Moon's backing for the keyboard solo has (almost) the same beat as the 7/8 part in Hammerhead (Right before going back to the main theme of the song). I might be crazy.

Willpower, Snow Blind, and Nightmare were my favorites. I'm just into the 80s stuff...and it nails it.

You might be crazy... but I do remember hearing one Dream Theater song that had a keyboard part that was similar note-based to that section...

Ice Crusher really adds to the tension of the race, heightening the overall experience. This is what a game's music SHOULD do.

Ice Crusher really adds to the tension of the race, heightening the overall experience. This is what a game's music SHOULD do. EXACTLY, a soundtrack that makes you want to play the game. Which is why I don't play many "modern" games; either god awful soundtracks (such as Jet Moto 3 had), non-existent music period, or worst of all...oh good lord the worst of all....those freakin LICENSED SOUNTRACKS. When games had individual soundtracks written for them and them alone, it was awesome...especially if they were anything like The Pinnacle Group wrote. The early 90s to about 1997 were the golden age of the "rockin" soundtrack for video games. When they started using that licensed crap, I lost interest in 50% of the game right there alone.

Not all modern soundtracks suck; i.e any modern Sonic games, especially Sonic and the Black Knight (I both the OST and Vocal Tracks on CD, cost me a pretty penny), the Halo soundtracks (don't judge me) or the best soundtracks IMO, Metroid Prime(s). But back to topic, Ice Crusher is also amazing, especally the first few seconds of it with the WHHHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Also, my least favorite is Joyride. It just doesn't do it for me.

Ya know what I like about Ice Crusher. The beat. It seems to either go with the bumps on the track or is close enough to feel that way. Gets you hyped up!

A licensed soundtrack isn't bad if it's used correctly. I STRONGLY disagree. For example....the only "weak spot" of Hot Wheels: Turbo Racing is the shoddy menu soundtrack...it sucks. That game could have had a great soundtrack....but they f**ked it up BAD with a licensed one. In another example, guitars, it's like comparing an original Floyd Rose tremolo to a Licensed Floyd Rose tremolo. Sure, the licensed may work...but it's not working to even half it's potential, and in the end it's nothing but crap compared to the original.
