I know I'm gonna get beat up for this, but this is my least favorite of the 3 games. Mostly because of the difficulty. After lots of practice, I can beat 1 and 3 like a pro. This game hands me my butt on a silver platter every time I play it.
Also, I didn't like that 2 started the trend that 3 continued, which was having such a small roster. I mean we went from 20, to 11, to 12.

I personally love this game out of all the games in the series.
First is because of the soundtrack. All the songs fit well with their respective track and feels so epic when you're racing to them. JM3 didn't really have a good a soundtrack than 2 or even 1 for that matter, mainly because it wasn't a completely original soundtrack. The only song that I really like is 'Pistolero' from Juno Reactor from the Devil Canyon track.
Also, this game has the most creative tracks that I've ever seen. Each one is challenging, but not too challenging that it becomes an annoyance. There are also 'shortcuts', but they would be almost too hard to get access to in order to save time with them that we don't even bother with them. I feel that these tracks are much better than the ones in JM3, which I will post the reasons why in the JM3 thread.
That's all I got for now, I'll post more when I get around to it.

I'll admit, I started this crazy website and I... only have one game, this... I have the greatest hits version (championship edition) with the notched up speed and 4 racers. I emulate the others, I plan to get original copies though. I swear it. I play it so much I think (based on responses I've seen) I'm probably among the few who can really handle it. I play on Insane always.
I think this is the most solid between the first two. I like the tracks and the killer music. I think this music should be the standard for Jet Moto. I just don't understand why they thought techno would work for Jet Moto. I love the wild country twang and the shredding surf rock.
Gameplay is really solid. For some reason extreme difficulty just works for Jet Moto. I ain't slowing down for no one. Tracks are amazing and so detailed for a early PSX game. I think of the one based on Yellowstone with the geysers (name escapes me atm). I think the visuals are awe inspiring and would be awesome in HD.

I love the music in all 3 games. I have the soundtracks downloaded and play them on my MP3 player and phone a lot. Especially when driving.

*I have to disagree there. I felt that certain levels were damn near impossible.
Also: "There are also 'shortcuts', but they would be almost too hard to get access to in order to save time with them that we don't even bother with them."
*That's partly my point. I felt that the game was too difficult, if for simply the sake of being too difficult. Like the developers played it, and thought 'Nope I haven't thrown the controller; make it harder'.
I still like this game. I just don't like it as much as the other two.

I don't believe that at all. I don't think the devs make it difficult just for the sake of being difficult. I believe they made it difficult because it was the next step of becoming better at the game, and by making the computer racers having recordings of other people playing them, it's kind of like having real players race against you with the same skill level as the current difficulty. It's not there just to make it hard to play, but to make you a better racer and to make you think, "What can I do to get through this part of the track faster and more efficient?". If you can do that and know what you're going up against on a track and how to get through them quickly, then you should have no problem finishing top 3 every single time.
Yes you're going to make mistakes here and there, and Master difficulty would allow one or two mistakes and you would still finish top 3 if you're good enough. It's when you get to Insane difficulty that you have to be virtually flawless, and that's why this difficulty is named for what it's named.
In all my years of gaming, I still consider beating Master Season when I was 10 about 11 years ago the greatest gaming achievement of my life. I beat it using The Max, and I was so damn proud of myself for doing it. All you have to do is get a feel for your rider, know what obstacles you're facing on each track, and know how to get by them quickly, and you can easily finish the season in first.

@ Barreld:
It seems that some of your views toward JM3 are similar to my views of JM2.
For instance I discussed how I found the difficulty to be aggrevating. And used your example of JM2's pointless, difficult, and nearly impossible shortcuts as an example of my view.
When discussing JM3 you said: "Also, there are shortcuts in certain tracks that you have to take, or else you will just fall in last place every time." and "I feel that whoever designed the tracks for JM3 just added certain parts of certain tracks to make a 'challenge' when in actuality it's just annoying."
I hardly ever bothered with the game's shortcuts, and after enough practice, I could finish first practically every time on every track.
"It's when you get to Insane difficulty that you have to be virtually flawless"
IMO, having to be flawless at a game takes a lot of the fun out of it.
"In all my years of gaming, I still consider beating Master Season when I was 10 about 11 years ago the greatest gaming achievement of my life. I beat it using The Max"
Congrats on that BTW. I used The Max as well. He's also the first racer I beat JM3 with as well, before going through and playing it with every racer.

Well, I don't really think Insane counts as something that you have to beat. Actually, I haven't even touched Insane Season apart from the first track. I feel that once you beat Master Season, then that's all you need to do, other than beat it with other racers to unlock all the racer's medals. I actually don't know what happens when you beat Insane Season, but I'm pretty sure it's something cool. I'm just guessing Insane difficulty is there for people who just love the difficulty in games, kind of like the "Dante Must Die" mode in the Devil May Cry games.

I know that after beating Insane the medals you win get upgraded to ones with the Singletrac logo. I have beaten Insane Season and I have two medals. The complete uninterrupted season and the complete season medal. I have yet to get the Insane 1st place uninterrupted season. I find the difficultly in Jet Moto 2 to be about the tracks rather than the AI. I can pass Insane AI easily, it's the track you have to get a hold of. Jet Moto for me wasn't difficult where one would throw the controller at the screen. It was like "damn that was tough, but I'm gonna try again". There are games I have gotten to that feeling of throwing controllers (I never did though, I have self-control ) but JM never was one of those. Unless when it comes to Ka-Ma-Te.

If there was ever a first level soundtrack that I can recognize, it would definitely be Slickrock Gorge's song. JM2 was my first ever PS1 game, and it really brings back childhood memories of it. Super Mario Bros. first level theme? FUHGEDDABOUDIT!

Part of the reason why JM2 is so hard is because programmers took shortcuts with AI, recording themselves playing the game as each character and taking the best times to use. Of course, this means that there are a few tactics and shortcuts that the developers overlooked, so...
I'm not sure why you guys think JM2 is almost impossible. At one point I could almost lap people on Nebulous. If there's a course to fear, it's JM1's Cypress Run. *shudders*

Once you know the secret to Cypress run, it isn't as bad as Nebulous. I never could master that twisty turny track.
