I guess I'll be the only one here to say this. What a f**kup of a great game. In all honestly, ever since Singletrac handed off the series to others, it's been going downhill. We saw a glimmer of hope in Head-On....but that will all be for nothing when this peice of junk comes out. Now we move on to the "Pre-order now and get this" shit. You only get Axel when you pre-order the game...otherwise you have to pay EXTRA for something THAT'S ALREADY WRITTEN ONTO THE GAME DISK! I don't care who you are, if you think that's a good idea....you must be sniffing glue. Making people pay extra for something that's already freaking there...what a great idea...NOT. Not to mention they've completely ruined car designs and turned it into a juggalo fest. This makes Twisted Metal: Small Brawl look like a pure gold on a pedestal. Can't say this is any different then how Spyro and Crash have turned out today either....leave it to idiots to handle and ruin great games. To put it short...you won't see me playing this filth. I'll stick to my 1995 Twisted Metal longbox, which will never get old, and has aged like a fine wine. The series should have died years ago, but now it's riding on nothing but it's past glory and name (just like Van Halen).

The pre-order is to unlock Axel early with out doing the story stuff to unlock him.
I think it's a great refresh on the whole series. I can't wait to play it. New modes and Online play will make this game soak up many hours for me, though I can still play Twisted metal 2 and Black for hours on end and not get bored.
I don't see anything wrong with the car designs, just updated for the new graphics really. New system=more detail. Sure some of the cars are different now, but thats not such a bad thing.
Development is being handled by a lot of the TM1 team too. So I don't have very many worries.

I liked TM1, Tm2, and TM Black. I sure hope this one's up to snuff. I guess the biggest risks are that either game-play will not be fun, or it will fail to capture the arcadey, over-the-top atmosphere that has made the TM series distinct. I remember how funny TM1 and TM2 were. I sure hope this one doesn't take itself too seriously.

TM: Black is still one of my favorite vehicle combat games. I'm not sure what to make of this game, but it would be a good idea to support it. After all, a successful Twisted Metal reboot could mean a potential Jet Moto reboot in the future.

Fitting.
Also, I just checked out the site, and there's only 3 characters?

That's how it looks to me too. It a very large diversion from the traditional TM format in that respect. I'm suspecting it will lead to more emphasis on plot and characterization. I just hope it doesn't lose its arcade feel as that would dramatically reduce its re-playability even more than only having three characters.
On the bright side, if they have some talented writers working on this it could be an opportunity to flesh out the whole Calypso Tournament thing much more. That could really grow the fan base and be increase the popularity of the series. If the series will still be fun to the original fan boys remains to be seen.

Still arcadey. Dave Jaffe ranted about how they always try to make the cars handle realistically and then realizing that it's no fun and going back to the old formula is the way to go.
They just really want to make Twisted better than it has ever been via story and gameplay. The choice for Three characters was due to them wanting to flesh out the story and single player. Insted of the rinse and repeat gameplay, in Twisted Ps3 the single player is more of a mission base than death match.

I think it should include 1 and 2 as well. That'd only be, what, and few extra kilobytes? ;D It'd give the game some perspective and expose the new generation to games they may otherwise never play.

Twisted released today and is selling like hot cakes. Didn't get a copy because my ps3 isn't in this state and my Walmart didn't stock it because they suck.

I don't have my PS3 with me, what with being in college and all.
Tell me how it is when you get it.

Didn't want to make a completely different thread just for this, but I was messing with twisted metals custom skins out of boredom and attempted a jetmoto skin. I like the back and the checkered rip effect. The people on the side and the racing stripe that mimics the sites. Besides that, I feel like something is missing and I don't quite like the waves. Oh well. Any opinions? The car is crimson fury.

Only idea I have would be to outline the green racing stripes with yellow pinstripes. Should make it 'pop' a bit more. That's a really cool skin as it is though!
