LoD is one of those games I've beaten so many times i could tell you where everything is hah! Wouldn't it be SICK if they made a 2nd one that takes place during the Dragon Campaign with the original Dragoons!?

That would be awesome but sony probably wont do it. People push for that game more than jetmoto and sony has yet to do anything about it.

Wouldn't it be SICK if they made a 2nd one that takes place during the Dragon Campaign with the original Dragoons!? This is a great concept, mcniggleston. It's been a veeeeery long time since someone mentioned EOE and Legend of Dragoon. loved those games. Road rash, too of course. Nothing like kicking and punching your opponent on a motorcycle. And you mentioned 1Xtreme/ESPN Extreme Games. Wanted to shed a tear for those memories, haha. Long live Saul Burland, street luge specialist! Then there was the commentator girl who was brutal to you when you did poorly and sang your praises when you did well. Now I need to find the game soundtrack to Extreme Games... Or if you really want a throwback, how about "the Immortal" for the Sega Genesis in which was a Diablo or Baldur's Gate style game..but...for..the Genesis! You were a wizard apprentice that had to go into caves to locate your mentor. You fought goblins that you could slice in half like a banana or tap their heads with your staff and their brains would pop out while their bodies shattered. You had to be careful to use certain items such has some type of food that would summon a giant worm which would eat your character on the spot. At the end you fought a massive dragon. Then there's Legend of Legaia for the PS1, made by the saaaame people that made LoD. This game came out when FFVIII was delayed. I personally enjoyed this game more than FFVIII. The battle system and story kept me interested more than anything else. There was a fog across the land in which creatures called Seru would hunt anyone that ventured into the fog. You as a young boy named Vahn befriended a nice Seru, known as a Ra-Seru(the name of it escapes me) and they journey across the land to activate/restore the Genesis trees which would clear the fog. You also had Noa, a girl raised in the wilderness by a wolf possessed by another Ra-Seru and then there was a warrior monk guy who had Ozma, a thunder/lightning-based Ra-Seru. The fighting was considered free form at the time. Still turned based but when it was your turn to attack, you used a variety of martial arts-based combos which would trigger special attacks if done in a certain order. You had the ability to attack an enemy low, mid section, or high. The only complaint most people had from playing the game was that some of the boss battles dragged on longer than most were used to. In the grand scheme of the game, I found this point minor. I know they made a sequel called Legaia 2: Duel Saga(PS2) but it didn't quite capture how special the first one was. I doubt you have those games...but who knows!

Legend of Legaia. Now theres a game I haven't heard in a long time. I loved that game. Sadly I never owned it. I had a demo of it though.
The interesting thing about the demo though, was the characters knew it was a demo. I liked that concept.
I need to get my hands on a copy of this game. I always loved the battle system.

Oh yeah, this was the beginning of the end with my fascination with Final Fantasy. I was never much of a RPG fan until, like most, got introduced into the genre via FFVII. From there I went searching for any RPG that seem to interest me. Legend of Legaia was one of those when I played a demo of it that was included in an issue of Official Playstation Magazine(I stopped reading GamePro and Electronic Gaming Monthly and was searching for other magazines). I could toss in the first ShadowHearts game on the PS2 as well. Didn't necessarily like the sequels. Other games that I played during that time? Tenchu: Stealth Assassins, Nightmare Creatures 1 and 2. The Legacy of Kain series. Colony Wars and its much harder sequel Colony Wars: Vengeance. The Bushido Blade games. I even miss Battle Arena Toshinden.

Oh, i have all the games you mentioned except Legaia....and i didn't particularly care for it too much compared to Legend of Dragoon....that was my pinnacle RPG at the time, and still is today. The Immortal was...ehh not my thing, but i got it for only 50cents so it doesn't matter. And yeah that chick always screaming and bitching at you if you lose (especially last place is hilarious) + I have the 1Xtreme soundtrack....and even learned the San Francisco course song on guitar haha! ;D

Nice! I don't suppose you're one of the few people that ever got a Neo Geo game system. Man that was expensive. Loved the arcade games though. Magic Lord will always have a special place in my heart... Or...another game I thought about while I decided to fire up Dragoon again.....Vagrant Story! I might as well toss in the first Parasite Eve and Einhander since Square was experimenting at the time. Vagrant Story was a truly nice concept and it never got the exposure it deserved. Its battle system was free form...had some serious RPG elements to it...like you had to press a certain attack button at specific times to keep a combo going. Your armor and weapons breaks...you can build new ones...refine old ones for parts. You fought all sorts of monsters...including dragons...while avoiding traps. The game may have turned some people off.....you did play as a guy named Ashley the Riskbreaker...
