Driver: San Francisco I grew up with the Driver games along side Twisted metal and Jetmoto. The Original was my favorite. In the Driver series you usually take the role of a undercover cop named Tanner. The only exceptions to this is Driver: Parallel lines where your a character known as TK and in Driver 76' as Ray. Early in the Driver series the game focused solely driving. In Driver 1 you were bound with your car. If your car totaled that was the end. In Driver 2 you gained the ability to leave your car and carjack other cars, but there was no weapons. Driver 3 however added gun play to the equation and was met with mixed feelings, as the game itself was. In Parallel lines the on foot mechanic was fixed up to be more accessible to the player and returned the focus back on driving, but some foot missions still remained. Now from Driver 1-3 as Tanner you use your Driving skills to impress gangs and the like. After doing so they hire you and you use your position to infiltrate the gang, which leads up to some ultimate goal. In Driver Parallel lines, TK is looking to make a name for himself as a Driver back in the good ol' 70's. Well things get out of hand and you get set up and end up in the slammer. After you serve your time of 20 some odd years, you go out looking for revenge. Driver 76' (Psp) The Main Character Ray is trying to impress some girl's father or something along those lines, then she gets kidnapped. Never played it. Now Driver is well known for 2 things. The Cinematics and the Driving. Nuff of the history lesson. Now with the next entry in the Driver series they plan on returning to the games roots. Once again you are bound to your car, unable to leave. But this time theres a twist. At the beginning of the game Tanner is involved in a horrible accident and falls into a Coma. So you are playing this game in Tanners Coma dream in this dream he has "COMA POWERS" as I call it, but the official name is "Shift." Shift allows you to "Shift" into another car. I Have mixed feelings about this. It's a cool Idea but at the same time I have to scratch my head. Gameplay Vid: Twisted Metal. Of course. Feel I don't have to explain this one so I wont. Deus Ex: Human Revolution This is the 3rd in the Deus Ex series I believe. Which I've only played one and didn't really touch the second. The First game is a RPG/FPS much like Fallout 3 with some what restricted environments. The Choices you make effect the story, Particularly one choice. You can also play the game stealthy or run in gun if you choose. The second Deus Ex is more straight line FPS with a lot of guns drawing from the same Ammo pool. Thus making the squeal less popular. Theres a lot to rant on here but I probably bored you enough with my long rant on Driver, so without further ado; I love the artistic direction with the game. Very Blade Runnerish with a few nods to the Renaissance. Any games I missed or that your looking forward to in 2011? Post away!

Driver 1 and 2 were great....but after that it was not Driver to me, they changed too much... . It went from challenging and pure fun to just annoying and confusing in my opinion. The new "Twisted Metal" game looks terrible in my opinion...without Chuck Myers and Singletrac i simply can't play it, much less give it a shot at all. Twisted Metal died after #2 came out, and that was my favorite, i even wasn't very impressed with Black or Head-On compared to #2, even though the controls were very sensitive. I'm surprised they didn't use a Charlie "Yellow Jacket" Kane reference with that cab scene in the intro....would have been perfect when Needles "Sweet Tooth" Kane (yea, his son for those who aren't followers of TM) rolls up and picks the cigar up. This may be a bit far....but what i can foresee in the new Twisted Metal is an excuse for that "juggalo" trend to be around even longer, good god....The concept appears to be there...but I hope to god they don't mess it up.... To be honest with you....i haven't paid attention to videogames for about 5 or 6 years now, and never have and probably never will pay any attention to anything past PS2. I'm closed-minded as can be with new videogames...they simply all seem the same and all have a "been there, done that" feel; i just don't find any originality anymore. I'm looking forward to absolutely nothing anytime soon, I just would like to see the PS1 era return...but it's obsolete and won't happen. So i stick to purely old games and nothing else. If this post came off as arrogant....that's now what I intended at all, I just am not fond of change 1 bit in a good game series...which is why Twisted Metal 3 and 4 were AWFUL games. Take this post as strong criticism...not as an attack, as that's what I meant as it...and tell me what you think about my thoughts above.

I agree with mac that Twisted Metal 2 was definitely the best one in the series (1 was also good). But I did also enjoy the gameplay in the third one. It was different and started going downhill but I still had a lot of fun, particularly on multiplayer. TM4 was when I really became disinterested. The characters started to suck and some of the maps were just too "out there." I haven't played any other installment of the series. Don't even care about the story after 2, and I don't have a PS3 so I won't be buying the new one. As for the other games mentioned, I've never even played them so I can't venture an opinion. Honestly I'm somewhat like mcniggleston anymore, though not to that degree. Games are just so damn expensive anymore and it aint worth the risk of dissatisfaction. The only 2 games I even know of coming in 2011 are Marvel VS Capcom 3 and NASCAR: The Game. I am DEFINITELY getting both. DragonBall Raging Blast 2 also looks pretty sick for anyone who used to watch the show (although that might be out now). Other than that, the only game have interest in in the future is Ninja Gaiden 3. I don't know when that's coming out, but it is also one of my favorite games.

I give you 3 thumbs up for this. This is very very true. Though there are some original games out though, like Flower. (I typed fire first. O.o) As for Twisted Metal I do agree 2 was one of the best but it is nice to see them try and push the genre further. I like to see how Dave Jaffe and his team put a spin on things. This could be better than 2 if you give it the chance.

I feel much the same way as you guys. Most of the games today play the same way, and 99% of the games I've seen come out recently are FPS games.
As for 2011, I'm really looking forward to Mortal Kombat. It has the potential to be the best game since Mortal Kombat II.

The new Driver game might be the entry in the series to get me back into the franchise. I'm still on the fence about the new Twisted Metal game. Yes, it's a new TM game. Yes, you have some very good people working on it. Taking a more wait and see attitude until I see a demo. There should only be one guy with a flaming head. SweetTooth. Yes, I said it. Although I love Deus Ex and the new entry looks great, it also has the potential to disappoint me like say...Perfect Dark Zero. I thought I would enjoy that game more than I actually did.
Another game I'm worried about is the new Need for Speed Hot Pursuit game. NFS has went downhill for me so much over the years. Past the PS1 games and Hot Pursuit 2 for the PS2, I haven't fully enjoyed a NFS game for a long time. Recently, Most Wanted was probably the best entry in the current generation, which isn't saying much. True they had the overkill of cops chasing you, but it still lacked the depth of the first two Hot Pursuit games. They were just so...fixated on the Fast and the Furious underground scene(something I'm not fond of, but will give them points for trying). Shift was supposed to be game to bring me back, but I had Forza 3 and PGR 3 and 4 along with Grid and Dirt 1 and 2. It couldn't win in that situation and that made me sad.
I've stuck with games that were in danger of being cancelled such as the latest Ghostbusters and Chronicles of Riddick game. Thank you Atari for saving those games after they were getting dropped when Activision and Vivendi merged. Not the greatest selling games, but I loved the original Riddick game when it came out on Xbox while everyone was waiting for Halo 2 and shortly before the release of Doom 3. Ghostbusters is just....well...GHOSTBUSTERS. It's like a solar eclipse, it happens once every couple of years.
I will stick with this generation's games as long as they have somethign that stands out from the rest of the crowd. Most games don't. Studios have been shutting down left and right when unique ideas don't pan out and sell well. FPS are coming out more often because they know people will tend to buy those on this side of the world. Just like in Japan, they're more likely to pick up a RPG with a borderline feminine male main character or some extremely wacky game that would only appeal to them and no one else. Though I would like a new Unreal Tournament game...but that's not going to happen for awhile due to the relatively poor sales of UT3...

Also..on the new Twisted Metal... ...rumor has it you can only play as like 3 characters.... If this rumor is true...you can expect a s#!tload of returned games...because to me, Twisted Metal WAS that you could have such a variety with so many vehicles to pick from, not 2 being the same and all having their own stats. 3 cars just doesn't cut it....hell at least put 7-8....

If that's true, then I won't bother getting the game. Simple as that. I'd rather fire up TM 3 and 4 than pay $60 for that kind of game. and i didn't like 3 and 4 much at all. Haha. I mean come on! The variety of cars and the match ups were ridiculous. A formula 1 racer taking on an armored personnel carrier? A police cruiser going one on one with a monster truck. A guy strapped into the exercise machine from hell vs. an ice cream truck with a distorted theme song! I hope that rumor is not true.

That'd be a real bad move on the developer's part. The variety and number of car choices is half the point of the TM franchise. If you don't want that in your game, then don't call it Twisted Metal.

Reason is there is 3 different in depth stories on each of the characters. One for each difficulty which the gameplay plays out differently. Now as for the vehicles theres going to be I think they said 16. Now what you guys are forgetting one of the major things that people seem to disagree over is vehicle switching, which will be in the single player campaign so you won't be playing as just 3 cars. And returning characters cars and characters you can play online include, Axel, Specter, Sweet tooth, Mr.Grim, Darkside, Junkyard Dog, Shadow. Some Say Crazy 8 will be in it. Dave Jaffe said something about Mr. Slam bing used as a promotional code with say 7-11 or slim jim, but its ment to be taken as a "What if" These cars will also be available offline, just not with said Iconic characters.

I was wanting Yellow Jacket and Pit Viper back......wtf happened to Pit Viper anyway? After #1 she's gone for good and we get "Grasshopper".

DollFace Sadly. I like Mr.Ash more.
As for Pit viper she died or something. I personally like Grasshopper more. And yellow jacket is still a possibly, all the returning characters haven't been announced yet.
Heres the ending that made it in the game.
Think it was either they didn't like the character, (Her special is crap to me) Or they just felt they needed a change.

Dollface was a pretty nice character...but come on...it's Mr. Ash! And the fact that there was a possible connection between him and Minion made that part of Twisted Metal great for me(Mr. Grimm and Shadow included). We won't get into how Mr. Grimm in Black was just....horrible.
I'm thinking they needed a change.
