I shall be starting a new thread for each track every week, for the 3 games. It'll be interesting to discuss the tracks indivually, secrets to winning, best players to ride them, the AI, glitches, difference in riding them on PC vs PS1, if you like the track or not.
Discuss Cliffdiver here.

Props for the idea dude. Cliffdiver's one of my favorite courses on JM1 or 2. I guess the strategy is a little different depending on the game but this is a JM1 thread so I'll stick to that. Honestly I haven't done many races with AI on any track in JM1; it's been mostly practice runs. So I can't talk much about how to beat the AI. But just a couple hints/strategies for getting around I guess.
I know I've said this before but bike control is key, especially on this track (being that some of the turns are very sharp and the speed is high). When you're going around sections like the S-turns with grapple, you want to maintain high speed without falling off the bike. It can be hard to do with turns this sharp. I usually use 1 turbo through this section (I think coming off the second turn heading to the third). When you use the grapple at this speed you'll feel the bike roll hard to the inside of the turn, so roll the opposite way to keep from falling, but not so much that you sacrifice a lot of speed. In fact, sometimes you can get away without rolling at all depending on how good you're entry into the turn is.
Always save a turbo for the downhill S-turns to jump them completely (saves an eternity). Be careful using turbo through the very next section; if you use it at the wrong spot you'll go flying into the trees...make sure you keep your nose down!
Also if you're doing stunt racing, do tricks wherever possible...it doesn't take much to gain 1 turbo.

This is a good idea.
The way I do Cliff diver is one boost at the start, When I come to the statue head thingies from Easter island I cut between them and boost across the water at the S turns I use sharp turn and no grapple to maintain as much speed as possible, then as I come out of them use the grapple at the top of the hill to aim me for the short cut and boost, sometimes It isn't necessary if you keep enough speed. I found if my aim is off you can use the bottom of the bike to deflect, but you lose a lot of speed and have to play catch up, but its better than wreaking. Once at the drop off or the "LOOK OUT! I get as close to the left side as I can then boost. From there I save my beginning turbo because you don't really lose speed on flat water. Keeping 2 turbos for the water after the lookout instead of one. What I do here is boost when I hit the water then one right before the finish line to keep up momentum.
I don't know on Jet moto 2. Been a very long time since I had the Jet Moto 1 tracks unlocked on it.

I think this was one of the toughest courses on JM1. I actually think the difficulty levels were messed up, some tracks are easier than what they're supposed to, and the opposite too.
I use the L1 and and R1 buttons to help me on the switchbacks, makes the turning easier. As for the AI, watch out for Dakota obviously since she almost always wins it. Keep an eye out for Shirow and Quick Jessie too.

I always figured that Snow Blind and Cliffdiver were accidentally swapped. It would explain why both black diamond courses are snow-based.

I actually really REALLY hate this track. I've never been good at it. It took me a long time just to get 3rd on this track back in the day. In fact, to this day, it still gives me trouble. I felt that this track was a huge buzz kill for the game, and really ruins my experience playing JM. I always hate racing this track, and can't wait get through it when playing.

I always get 2nd on Cliffdiver. It's not the track I have problems with (although falling off your bike unexpectedly on the path before the Look Out drop off is a bit frustrating), it's Dakota that ruins all chances of getting some sort of perfect season run (which, believe it or not, I used to get quite often). She somehow races on her own terms, literally separating herself from the rest of the pack and zooming along the entire path of Cliffdiver. skizzo already pointed this out, but it's a pretty big issue for me, especially that it happens ALL. THE. TIME. Other than that, my disc always skips the Cliffdiver theme after the 1st lap has been completed and goes on to Hammerhead.

The music for each theme shuffles around after each song.

And that's awesome how the song skips straight to Hammerhead after 1 lap, lol.

So generally, I only hear it on the 1st lap. As for Dark Ermac's comment, of course the songs would shuffle after they have been played, but that's not exactly what I'm going for.

Oh, so the MP3 file is corrupted/unreadable. Try playing it in a CD player and let me know if it still skips.

Apparently it plays fine on a CD player. Doesn't skip to the next song or pauses. Pretty much plays well, even on my computer. Must be something wrong within the game.

The original Nov. 1995 version of Twisted Metal 1 is the same exact way when played on a fat PS2. It plays about 1 minute of the music....then cuts out to another track. Rinse and repeat.

Strange... I have a 2002 PS2 and it doesn't do that.
