My favorite JM 2 track. This is the one track I rarely lose on.

In the Championship Edition Aftershock has all the bridge supports removed. Also if you didn't know Aftershock is based in LA after a horrible Earthquake. The track was created by Brian Wiklem. In the Japan release JM98 came with a fold out map of Aftershock. See below. (I wish I had money to import a copy.)

Removing the bridge supports was a good idea. It made the track less of a "go slow and dodge obstacles" track.

It was a must for JM:CE's speed, and I really never go slow on that track. The supports never really were a problem to me.

Cool map there. Yea this use to be my favorite track when I was constantly playing back in the day. Probably because it was the only one that was a sure victory in a given season, and I was struggling like hell to beat master difficulty. I still enjoy it, and the soundtrack is freakin awesome (as usual), but it's just a tad too easy anymore. There's a lot of different ways to get around this joint though so it stays interesting.

Really? I never got to first place until a while. Plus there were 2 characters that cheated constantly (In the original JM2): The Hun and Bomber. They would disappear from the map just before going back into the canal part near the end, and would appear at the broken highway bit, a huge lead in front of the others.

Hmm...what difficulty you talkin about? I know a lot of riders would take different routes through the city so it might seem like they'd disappear, but I don't remember anyone leaving the map completely. But yea, personally I had a good feel for this track early on. Wasn't until Master that I had some trouble figuring out how to win, and then more so on Insane.

Yeah those 2 would disappear from the circuit map, and would reappear way ahead. That happened frequently in the original JM2 game for PS

But they used recordings of staff members for JM2. If they leave the track, it's a glitch.

I can see why Brian Wiklem really loved designing this track. I read on his website recently that SingleTrac wanted a post-apocalyptic background, but Wiklem decided against that "Hence the bright sunshine that you’d expect in California." Thank God for his assistant Darren for Slickrock Gorge. But before I get off-track, even today I listen to the Aftershock theme, which is pretty good, and when I play on the track, I simply zip through it, not caring about the trees in the city, the bumpy cracks, or even the support beams. Btw, has anyone ever tried flying over the floating boxes that come just before the start line? I saw it on a Youtube vid once, and decided to try it. It wasn't much of a time saver as it was more of a stunt in itself. Anyways, I didn't have any problem with Bomber, The Hun, or anyone on this track. It's pretty much a guaranteed win for me, whether on the original version or CE.
...I feel like I just annoyed an entire cafeteria of kids. Damn that was a lot of talk, even for me, usually.

Lol, no this would be annoying an entire cafeteria of kids. But anyway about the part before the finish. I don't know if I saw the same vid or if I did it one time myself, but I purposely tried pulling it off a while ago and didn't have any luck. Dunno, you might have to be in CE to make it.

As someone who has CE I've made the jump before. It's not easy for me though. I have come in at the right spot and you have to have enough momentum before also.

LOL, the Worst Metal Band in the World. Oops, I meant CLUB.
Anyway, the video about the jump before the finish line I saw was by a user named ShadowMojukin. He was playing through JM2 as Gadget and did that exact jump over the boxes just before finishing 1st. I've tried the jump in both CE and the original and have gotten it to work, but yes, it does take some momentum. For me, it's pretty easy to do. I just jump off of the corner bump just before the boxes. With enough speed, you might actually fly onto the other side of the concrete. It can be fun, but I'd rather not risk it unless you're a good distance away from the other riders.
