The best 99 cents I've ever spent at gamestop.
Power Drome is a hover-racing game for the PS2 where the player takes control of a "blade" in fast paced racing. The game includes Single Races, Championship and Split screen.

I know your probably thinking "Oh another Hover-racing game, that sucks. It's probably just a rip off of WipeOut, Or Starwars pod racing", but this game was originally made in the 80's. Now don't get me wrong it has its flaws but we will get there in a minute.
Now Power Drome isn't for people who like slower racing games. This is possibly the fastest racing game I've ever played. If you think Jet Moto 3 was fast, it wouldn't have anything on this game. Even with all that speed Powerdrome has buttery smooth controls. The analog stick is very touchy so new players have to learn how much angle is needed on any giving corner. I found my self hitting walls a lot from over steer in my first few hours of play.
Now the mechanics of racing are pretty simple. X is gas, Triangle Changes view, Circle repairs and R1 is boost. Repairs and boost are limited by something called Power. The way power works is it builds up as you race, but if your in "low Gear", you wreak, someone rams you or vice versa you lose your chance to build up power. Once you have a power point you won't lose it unless you use it. The only down side to repairing is it slows you down temporarily. Now that we've got that down it's time to talk about the Championship mode.
The Championship mode has five types of races you will compete in to progress which include, Single race, Championship, Duel, Speed Challenge and Elimination. As you beat each race you will unlock bonus content for the gallery, (Which is a feature I love and more games should have), and the occasional character, Most character are unlocked via duel races, however.
Now talking about Power Drome's AI, is where we start getting into the problem's with the game. Yes the AI is Somewhat challenging on a new track and they do Draft, Boost and hit you, but they slow down too much on some corners on a few tracks and if you have a race with no wreaks were you constantly get power points you can pretty much leave them behind.
I also think the championship is a little short. In about 2-3 hours I cleared 12 out of 23 events. I have a feeling when I finish this game I'm going to want more.
Maybe I can talk my girlfriend into playing it with me so I can review the versus mode too. There’s a long shot. xP.
Anyways, despite the AI and the short Championship, I really like this game. I believe it's worth the .99 cents I spent on it if not more.
TL;DR, Your Writing Sucks: Faster than JetMoto 3 on crack, Has a lot of bonus content, good, has decent AI, Short Championship.
