First lets start with Ridge Racer
www.youtube.com/watch?v=WOO9A7BBs9g
I've always liked the first ridge racer but I've never owned it sadly. Ridge racer is a vary arcady racer, but promises hours of fun. The original Ridge Racer has the slandered arcade menu where you pick your track and car before a race. Split Screen is a great way to have fun. Despite only having a "Bumper cam" For split screen it can still be great fun. I enjoy the classic Ridge Racer and its Challenging difficulty. If your looking for easy arcade racers Ridge Racer isn't it.
Ridge Racer has 12 cars, 4 originals, 8 unlockables and 1 super machine.
Ridge Racer Revolution

Ridge Racer Revolution is the home version of Ridge Racer 2.
Ridge Racer Revolution has 4 originals, 8 and 3 special machines for unlock.
Rage Racer

Rage Racer is Ridge Racer ANGRY edition. No not really. Rage Racer borrows alot from Rave Racer, the arcade version of Ridge Racer. Rage Racer however is the first in the Ridge Racer serious to have a advanced single player career where credits can be used to buy new cars. In Rage Racer you have four car manufactures to choose from. Each has varying stats like, top speed, Acceleration, light weight, etc. Each Manufacturer has 3 cars and one secret car for a total of 16 cars.
R4: Ridge Racer Type-4
www.youtube.com/watch?v=xUluUaPR1sY
R4: Ridge Racer Type-4, Or R4 as I like to call it, is my favorite Ridge Racer game. in R4 at the start of your career you pick a racing team to sign on with. The race teams reflect the difficulty you wish to play. R4's physics hit the sweet spot for me. While it is arcady, it still holds a slight sim attitude with corners as you can't just fly around them willy nilly. As your progress through GP (Grand Prix, or as my niece calls them Grand "Pricks") you will be offered a new car. During this process you pic a manufacture to "build" your car and depending on which you pick depends on the car received. R4 also has a limited retry system for each race, so be careful.
There are 321 vehicles. So..Thats a fuckton. *Cough* Excuse my language. I didn't think there were that many and I OWN this game. Geeze.
Ridge Racer Turbo (R4 Bonus disc)
www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMz3ZedXZWo
Ridge Racer Turbo was offered on a bonus disk that came with R4. Ridge Racer Turbo has updated shading and increased FPS. Also added the Super Machine Angle #0 for unlock.
Ridge Racer V
www.youtube.com/watch?v=D3Nws7imVa4&feature=related
I recently bought Ridge Racer V from gamestop for 1.99. Ridge Racer V continued the career mode. The newest addition to the game is Car customization with the paint job and wheels. Much like Rage Racer you pick your car manufacture, but in Ridge Racer V they specialize in drifting or grip.
There are 18 cars, and 14 tracks.
On a side note they replaced the original icon for Ridge Racer, The Beautiful Reiko Nagase, with Ai Fukami. My reaction to this was "):"
R: Racing Evolution (2003), for PlayStation 2, GameCube and Xbox.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=roAOE4fW1mQ
R is Ridge Racer meets sim. The game features over 33 licensed cars in-depth car adjustments such as, brakes car weight etc. This ame also included a pressure meter the closer you get to a opponite and the longer you stay on them the meter fills up and the likely hood of a foe making a mistake increases.
Ridge Racer 6 (2005), for Xbox 360
www.youtube.com/watch?v=x5CxmxWXtvY
Ridge Racer 6 focuses on nitro boost and Drifting with out wreaking. Ridge Racer 6 allowed complete customization of vehicles from body kits to engine parts and paint jobs.
Ridge racer 6 includes 30 cars 10 which are special machines.
Ridge Racer 7 (2006), for PlayStation 3
www.youtube.com/watch?v=7KJJ_ygafu0
Ridge Racer 7 is Ridge Racer 6 with about 10 more cars
Ridge Racer Unbounded (2012 Ps3, Xbox 360, PC)
Ridge Racer Unbounded is being developed by bugbear entertainment. Who knows what lies in wait.
I left out a few on the hand held systems and one for the 64.
