My name is McPortugalem, or SoCall, though my gaming nicknames vary (I'm, for instance JimmyRin_PT/JimmyRin_US on psn depending on the region - hey flash sales). I do videos about old videogames, though I just started that hobby, and they're not very good...and I ocasionally stream.
The reason I'm here? Well I'm a 90's kid, or late 90's kid, so I caught the tail end of the "extreme phase", and games like Jet Set Radio, and Tony Hawks were on my playing ground (I didn't have both the dreamcast and the playstation at the same time, but I dabbled with the two), in fact, I'm one of the major peeps that still writes fanfics for Jet Set Radio over on fanfiction.
Not here to self advertise, so, my experience with racing games on the ps1 was simple....crash team racing, superbike 2000, gran turismo, driver. I liked to drive around in driver, and gran turismo was certanly something different, crash team racing (which was a friend's) was my favorite though, racing multiplayer action....
which led me to Super Bike 2000, the game had a 2 player mode right on the menu, if it detected 2 controllers, now at the time my friends brought their controllers and we played . Superbike 2000 is a motorcycle game that's somewhat archaic and somewhat of a simulation, it tries to do both and it's not a good game (when compared to the pc port at least, so I hear), but I had plenty of fun.
So here I was, wandering twitch when I see Barrel (is it?) streaming something with jet on it's title....I thought could it be jet set radio? Nah, but I recognised the graphics from what looked like ps1 (undeniable charm), and so I stuck around.
He convinced me to give the game a try, first through emulation and now through legal emulation...I won't be chalenging your records on a pal version, don't worry...but, yeah I'm here. To be honest I am awful at the game, I crash a lot, and the swamp stages, goodness me I can't even finish those...but I'll improve.
Even if it could use analog support. Grumble Grumble.
So yeah, I dabbled long enough. I'm new here, hi!
