I discovered this website of the composer Jeff van Dyck. He did the music for NHL99 and other games. He has some of the music for download. His latest project was Total War Shogun 2. www.jeffvandyck.com/Definitely a cool site to look up new stuff. I'm seriously blown away by this music. Dare I say RIVALS Pinnacle Group. What the hell EA?! You had this GENIUS and you give us licensed music?! I weep. WEEP. EDIT: Also, just discovered the guitarist's name. Saki Kaskas.

Some of it sounds good...but IMO nowhere near The Pinnacle Group. Talent wise and all, it's light years away from the Dynamic Trio. Still not bad though. ;D

I've always liked Ace Combat's music, but playing two for the first time, I love it's music. Classic game's music is the way to go. From 4 up I believe they went more complex with the music, which it still is good, but not as good as these to me.
Sometimes simple is just better.

I thought I'd add some awesome songs I came across.
Natural Killer Cyborg from Mother/Earthbound 3
Be Cool, Be Wild~This is actually a musical proof-of-concept video, but the music is 100% original and 100% AWESOME! Your also able to see how the artist would make musical switches in gameplay! Very interesting for those who are interested in music in games and very awesome for those who LOVE sonic music!

Fire Pro Wrestling has some really good music. Most of it is based off real wrestlers themes but they are distinct enough not to get in trouble. Some of them are awesome enough to be good songs on their own. Can't seem to find videos but I can say that they are awesome. Lots of arena rock style stuff. According to the FPWR manual it says that Satoshi Izumi is the guitarist and Dimension Cruise is the company behind the music. Here is the menu music. Personally while it is really good music it is very bad menu music (so annoying). www.youtube.com/watch?v=GhzSEYLMWI0

Hey guys I have a little challenge for you guys. I wanna see a playlist made. For fun. Maybe 10-12 songs. All have to be from different games. (can be same franchise, series, but different enough to stand alone) Feel free to nominate a JM song. Just have to decide which one (war in 3..2.. =P). So how about it? I nominate NHL 99 Menu Music 1 to start off this playlist. I'm in love with this track. Feel free to oppose any nominations as you see fit. Quake II, Painkiller, A good portion of the early Command and Conquer music particularly the Red Alert music, Unreal Tournament, Early Need For Speed music especially Hot Pursuit's tunes, Twisted Metal Black (Not guitar heavy but DEFINITELY dark and evil sounding), The battle tracks from The Darkness, Quake and its mission packs, and the music from Manhunt.
Now I know licensed music is not allowed but I know a few games that have licensed music that sounds pretty rocking to me: Road Rash 32 Bit, Road Rash 3D, Test Drive 5, and Carmageddon 1 & 2 (Contains music from Fear Factory and Iron Maiden respectively).

Command and Conquer has fantastic music. I'd be spending all day posting what the music. Frank Klepacki is a master. Ooh menacing red admin text. >_<
Hey guys,
I like to place two new rules for this thread. Simple. Try to avoid posting more than four embedded YouTube videos. If you are gonna post many, post them as links.
Also, when quoting, remove the code [.youtube] [./youtube] of any videos in the post you're quoting and instead place before the video's ID YouTube's URL shortener. youtu.be/
These two simple steps help make this thread quicker to load for other members. You won't be scolded for not doing it. It is simple forum etiquette.
Thank you. :)
P.S. Also avoid emoticons as well. Helps a little. You can Disable Smilies in the Create Reply page.
P.S.S. I'm probably guilty of these things. I'll promise I'll change tomorrow! /whine

I nominate the theme from the original Halo game for the playlist. Not only is it great for an fps in that it gets one psyched to shoot guns, it is also a very skillful merging of orchestral and electronic instruments that stands out among modern music in general. It's not really rock though, so it probably doesn't belong on the playlist. Ah well, I couldn't resist mentioning it because I just finished a play-through and it occurs to me how vital the music was to making that game kick-ass.

I played the demo to Halo before. That's actually my only Halo experience (except playing at a friend's one time). But there was a moment near the ending of the mission when that music started. OMG, I got such an adrenaline rush out of it.

I really dig all of the Halo music (at least the ones Marty O'Donnell did). My fav is 2, which has the remix featuring Steve Freakin' Vai on guitar.
