[...] would it be possible to patch it so the circle button is grapple instead of hop? I never found a use for hop. If that were possible i think the game would be alot more playable. It definitely is possible. I don't know if I can do it, but it is possible. Also, the hop is essential in JM3 to get some places (ex.: Uhccip Uhcam is nearly impossible to complete without the hop). If you want to configure the grapple to circle, you can just change the settings in your emulator, but you'll find that you need it on some courses.

I still think I'd use grapple more than hop. I couldn't find a suitable control scheme. I need L and R to be turn and circle grapple. Then l2 and r2 can be hop, which would be the analog stick.

Alright, so here's a little update. I've discovered that the game's menu graphics are stored in .BIN files. More precisely, in a CTEXT.BIN file. Every menu has a subfolder in the /DATA/SHELL directory and its graphics are stored in the CTEXT.BIN file, however, they're not the same as regular TIM files. Some coloring and palette data is stored in the CCLUT.BIN and MVDATA.BIN files. I can't extract anything from them so I can't even view the images, let alone modify them.
It's so sad that Jet Moto isn't more popular. I'm sure if we had someone here who was experienced in this sort of stuff, we could edit those BIN files and even the tracks' 3D models to make our own.

No, the second config has circle as grapple, L1&R1 as tight turn left&right, L2&R2 as rotate left&right and L2+R2 as hop...

I don't want to lose a turning function tho. I'm sure the default setup combines both types of turns into 1 button. If I seperate them and don't use one then I won't be able to turn as well.

The default turning controls are the same as this, this just puts the rolling controls on L2&R2 and adds a tight turning option. This is exactly identical to the default controls of JM2124.

I have a question. Do you guys want me to keep the turning/pitching/rolling the same as in JM3, or make it slow like in JM1&2&4?

Don't the single turn buttons combine the two turns instead of using just the one turn? If it don't then I guess there's no problem using that control scheme.
Also yes, make the game as close as possible to JM1 & 2. Slow turn. Less Chaos.
